We have a variety of programs dedicated to promoting social wellness in our community.
Income Tax Service
At Sources, we believe that connections between individuals and the community are critical to social wellness. We also know that economic and other barriers can restrict an individual's access to resources in our community.
The focus of Volunteer Services is to assist individuals to develop connections and access resources in our community. Sources Income Tax Service offers tax return preparation year-round to individuals with limited incomes.
White Rock & South Surrey Food Bank
At Sources, we focus on improving social wellness for our community and social justice for all. At our White Rock/South Surrey Food Bank, we do this with a strong belief in equal access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food from local sustainable food sources - what we call food security. For more details, please visit the Food Bank page.
The ability to get to essential medical and dental appointments is often challenging for many people. This is particularly true for our senior community members. Family and friends are wonderful sources of support, but often their busy lives prevent them from being able to assist with the driving needs of those living in White Rock and South Surrey as much as they might like. Our volunteer drivers provide assistance to residents of White Rock and South Surrey who are unable to use public transit and have no other means of reaching essential medical and dental appointments in the Metro Vancouver area. Volunteer drivers pick up and return clients to their residences. "The service is needed. Elderly or sick persons cannot stand long waiting times for a ride."
The purpose of our Shop-by-Phone program is to provide grocery shopping services to residents who are coping with illness, injury or disability. This service is provided by our dedicated volunteers. 85% of our clients last year were seniors. Sources volunteers take grocery orders on Monday and fill the orders the next day. Groceries are delivered to the clients’ homes for a small delivery fee charged by the grocery store. “This is a very good service that I could not do without,” reported a senior Shop-by-Phone client.
Our trained volunteers are available to help callers access services in our community. We help arrange rides to essential healthcare appointments, set up grocery shopping services, book dental clinic appointments for qualified individuals, and provide contact information for other community services. Please call: 604-542-4357 for more information.
