POSITION: Intake Worker – Casual Status

CURRENT LOCATION: Newton Resource Centre – Surrey

CURRENT HOURS: as needed

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Intake Worker provides services, including initial client contact and intake by phone or in person; provides support, information and referral on community resources; provides basic information on income support programs including BC Employment and Assistance benefits, tenancy, disability programs, both provincial and federal, as well as federal support programs.  This position will also entail assisting clients to access resources and manage service levels.  In addition, the Intake Worker will also provide support to the advocates and general administrative duties including managing a multi-lined switchboard.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 2 years post-secondary education, and 2 years of experience in a related field or combination of education and experience.
  • Computer skills utilizing MS Office, Excel, and Internet
  • An awareness and understanding of poverty and homelessness related issues
  • Excellent knowledge of community resources/support services
  • Ability to speaking Punjabi an asset
  • Criminal record check required

START DATE: ASAP

SALARY: $18.00-20.00 per hour
