POSITION: Residential Community Support Worker – Permanent Part-Time

CURRENT LOCATION: Stayte House – White Rock/South Surrey

CURRENT HOURS: 25 hours per week (Sun 9am-4pm, Mon-Wed 2pm-8pm)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Sources Community Living provides all-encompassing care for residents who have been referred to Sources through Community Living British Columbia. We are COA accredited and licensed by Fraser Health Community Care.

Stayte House provides a home to four adults with developmental disabilities and/or autism who require assistance in their day to day lives.  Staff assist residents in all aspects of daily living in order to ensure residents have a good quality of life.  Our mission is to enable the pursuit of the best quality of life possible for residents through fostering independence, well-being and social participation.  Self-determination is achieved through choice, person-centered planning and provision of a safe home-like environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • ·         Minimum 6 months experience working with people with developmental disabilities;
  • ·         A degree or diploma in an area related to supporting people with developmental disabilities such as Social Services, Human Services or equivalent;
  • ·         develop a supportive rapport with clients and actively seek out new opportunities for clients as related to their specific goals and objectives;
  • ·         empathize with clients, colleagues and families and respect the unique challenges of these individuals;
  • ·         follow individual client service plans and participate in the on-going development of such;
  • ·         communicate clearly – both orally and in writing  – with clients, parents staff, management and other professionals;
  • ·         provide a strong positive model by being energetic, creative, resourceful;
  • ·         act decisively in a crisis situation;
  • ·         function in a team;
  • ·         follow client budget, adhere to spending limits and record expenses;
  • ·         use a word processor(Word for Windows) to record data and produce reports.
  • ·         All employment requirements (which includes criminal record check, unrestricted class 5 B.C. driver’s license, proof of SIN, and immunization record must be valid and current or your application will not be considered – Sources provides in-house training for first aid/CPR/NCI and if hired attendance is mandatory

START DATE: ASAP

SALARY: $16.33 per hour
