The remains of two hundred and fifteen children found in Kamloops. Many more may yet to be found. Our hearts are heavy as we mourn each and every precious life that was taken. #EveryChildMatters. Our thoughts are with the Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation and other First Nations communities whose lives were, and continue to be, affected by the residential school system. Our deepest condolences to the families whose children were taken from them. Knowing that there is much work ahead for all of us to do, we remain steadfast in our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, and Resurgence. The truths of our past must guide the future we build together.

FEBRUARY 14, 2018 | INTERNAL / EXTERNAL JOB POSTING COMPETITION NO. 18-20 POSITION: Life Skills Instructor – Permanent Full-Time CURRENT LOCATION:  Life Skills Resource Centre – Surrey (Newton) CURRENT HOURS: 35 hrs/wk (Mon-Sat, must be able to commit to work 4pm to 8pm Tuesday evenings for social group facilitation and alternatively on certain weeks Thursday evenings to facilitate social dances) POSITION SUMMARY: This position involves supporting adults who live and work with intellectual and/or physical challenges.   The position will involve be working in a team setting in a centre-based program located in Newton. The program supports approximately over 50 individuals who receive service through the Adult Discovery Program, the Afternoon Skill Builders Program at this location, as well as being able to work off-site in the community with clients in the Community Living Program.   The primary focus of this position will be to work with a team of staff to organize and provide daily activities that would include accessing the community and aid in achieving personal growth and self-worth. This will include some 1-1 support as well as working in group operating from the Life Skills Centre. Staff is required to assist with personal care and working with participants who have some moderate behavioural challenges.

  COMPETITION NO. 18-19 POSITION:   Residential Care Worker – Permanent Part-Time This position requires CUPE Union membership. CURRENT LOCATION: Chestnut House – Delta (Ladner) CURRENT HOURS: 31 hrs/wk (Monday-Wednesdays, 5pm-10pm, Thursday-Friday, 4pm-12am) POSITION SUMMARY: Sources BC governs a wide range of programs in the Lower Mainland with the aim to enhance social wellness for our community.   Located in Ladner, the RCW at Chestnut House contributes to a highly organized, team oriented, and dynamic work environment that supports clients with Autism Spectrum Disorder in residential and community settings.   Staff engage in daily recreation and vocation in the community with residents.   They are active, verbal, mobile, and highly involved in the community.   Positive support and engagement through conversation, games, and out-trips, special events, sports, to name a few, are routine.

COMPETITION NO. 18-E02 POSITION: Behaviour Analyst (BCBA, RASP) – Contract Position CURRENT LOCATION:  ACCESS PBS – Surrey/White Rock, BC CURRENT HOURS: As needed POSITION SUMMARY: The Behaviour Analyst will offer a full range of consultation and support services to families of children under or over the age of 6 with autism / other developmental disabilities, including building a therapeutic alliance with the family, conducting skill assessments, presenting the intervention design to the family, training interventionists proper implementation of intervention designs, and collaborating on current progress and future skills with the family and all team members.   This includes modelling, role-playing, educating and further hands on training to parents and interventionists as well as developing data sheets/graphs, and analyzing data collection to determine success of the programs or necessary modifications to the program.

COMPETITION NO. 18-18 POSITION:        Residential Care Worker –Part-Time This position requires HSA Union membership and is open to male and female applicants. CURRENT LOCATION: Archway House – Cloverdale (Surrey) CURRENT HOURS: 20 hrs/wk (Saturday 10am to 3pm, Sunday, Tuesday 4: 30pm to 9: 30pm, Wed. 10am to 3pm) POSITION SUMMARY: This position provides care and advocacy for 4 adults with developmental disabilities in residential and community settings.   Those duties include assisting with personal care and hygiene, meal preparation, housekeeping, laundry, transportation, medical appointments, as well as behavior and emotional support. To support clients in recreation/vocation settings in the community.

COMPETITION NO.   18-17 POSITION: Residential Care Worker – Permanent Part-Time This position requires CUPE Union membership CURRENT LOCATION: Primrose Centre/Crossroads Day Program – Delta (Ladner) CURRENT HOURS: 32 hours per week (Thu-Sun 1200-2000) POSITION SUMMARY: This position provides care and advocacy for five adults with developmental disabilities in a residential setting.   Those duties include assisting with personal care and hygiene, meal preparation, housekeeping, laundry, transportation, medical appointments, as well as behavioural and emotional support.
