Residential Care Worker – Part Time

POSITION:        Residential Care Worker –Part-Time

This position requires HSA Union membership and is open to male and female applicants.

CURRENT LOCATION: Archway House – Cloverdale (Surrey)

CURRENT HOURS: 20 hrs/wk (Saturday 10am to 3pm, Sunday, Tuesday 4:30pm to 9:30pm, Wed. 10am to 3pm)

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position provides care and advocacy for 4 adults with developmental disabilities in residential and community settings.  Those duties include assisting with personal care and hygiene, meal preparation, housekeeping, laundry, transportation, medical appointments, as well as behavior and emotional support. To support clients in recreation/vocation settings in the community.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • ·         Minimum 3 months experience working with people with developmental disabilities
  • ·         Grade 12 diploma and 2 years post-secondary education, preferably in behavior sciences, social work, or community social service or equivalent
  • ·         All employment requirements (which include CPR, NCI Training, TB screen, Sources training course, criminal record check, proof of SIN, immunization form) must be valid and current or your application will not be considered
  • ·         Must have a Class 4 BC Driver’s License Unrestricted
  • ·         Ability and capable of swimming to support residents with swimming
  • ·         Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative
  • ·         Ability to use a word processor (Word for Windows) to produce objective written data and reports
  • ·         Ability to follow a petty cash system and report expenses
  • ·         Participate fully in swimming, skating, and a wide variety of recreation and leisure activities
  • ·         Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities
  • ·         Familiar with adult rights and responsibilities
  • ·         Able to actively seek out new community/recreation/vocational experiences
  • ·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • ·         Ability to create and implement visual supports and schedules
  • ·         Ability to implement behavior support strategies
  • ·         Capable and confident using NCI strategies and techniques
  • ·         Comfortable attending and participating in adult planning meetings

START DATE: Feb. 19, 2018

SALARY: $17.71 per hour

BENEFITS:  As per collective agreement
