Family Fun Activities to Do With Your Kids at Home

Are you looking for fun activities to keep your kids occupied while staying home? Sources Infant Development Program has compiled a list of activities for you to do with your children!

Edible Finger Painting
What you will need:

  • Cool Whip, pudding or plain yogurt
  • Food colouring
  • Muffin tin
  • Paper

Mix food colouring in with the cool whip, pudding or yogurt and place into the muffin tin. Place paper on the table or floor and let your child use their fingers to create a masterpiece!

Washing Farm Animals/Vehicles Sensory Bin
What you will need:

  • 2 Plastic bins
  • Dirt
  • Dish soap
  • Plastic animals, insects, cars and trucks, Little People
  • Washcloths, brushes and sponges
  • Water

Fill one container with dirt and the other container with dish soap and water. Let your child get the animals, insects, cars, trucks and Little People dirty as they play in the dirt. Now it’s time to give the animals a bath in the soapy water. Encourage your child to use the washcloths, brushes and sponges.

Bubble Trucks
What you will need:

  • Water
  • Bubble bath or body wash
  • Food colouring
  • Large plastic bin
  • Trucks and cars
  • Little People

Take 1/2 cup of bubble bath/body wash and 1/4 cup of water, put into a bowl, add some food colouring, and mix with a hand mixer until the mixture forms peaks. Pour into the plastic bin and add in the trucks and cars.

Pom Pom or Ball Wall
What you will need:

  • Pom poms
  • Balls of all sizes
  • Toilet paper tubes
  • Paper towel tubes
  • Construction paper
  • Tape

Use the construction paper to make cylinders that the pom moms or balls can go through, tape up the cylinders, toilet paper tubes, and paper towel tubes on the wall to create a maze for your child to put the pom moms and balls through.

Indoor Bowling
What you will need:

  • Large plastic cups
  • Ball

Line up the cups in different patterns or create a tower and let your child roll the ball to knock down as many cups as they can!

Build a Fort
What you will need:

  • Large cardboard box, couch or table
  • Blankets
  • Pillows
  • Flashlights

Together with your child, create a fort inside your home where they can use their imagination and create a fun place to play and hide out!
