Position: Keyworker – Temporary, Part-Time

Location:  Fort St John

Hours: 29 hours/week, with the possibility of increasing to 35 hours/week

We are looking for a Keyworker to join our Keyworker Services North East team! This individual must be well organized, able to work independently, and have a strong understanding of the challenges faced by children and adolescents with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) and other Complex Developmental Behavioural Conditions

(CDBC).

Description of position

Reporting to the Manager of Behavioural Services, the Keyworker provides individual and community-based services in Fort Saint John and Fort Nelson. The Keyworker provides specialized, direct services to families with children with FASD/CDBC. Family Support Worker works within the Family Preservation & Reunification North (FPRN) Program. This position supports families during and after the diagnostic process, assists caregivers in finding resources and learning skills, and works to enhance community awareness and prevention of CDBC/FASD.

General Responsibilities:

  • ·         Effective and collaborative communication with MCFD staff is essential
  • ·         Contributing to a strong team environment
  • ·         Schedules and attends meetings
  • ·         Maintain a caseload and provide direct services to families referred to the program
  • ·         Some administration duties are required

Program Specific Responsibilities:

  • ·         Regional travel is required on a regular basis
  • ·         Liaises with a regional health multidisciplinary assessment team
  • ·         Assists families to interpret/implement recommendations of the diagnostic assessment
  • ·         Conducts assessment and develops plans (including service plans and positive behaviour support plans)
  • ·         Teaches modeling strategies and provides information/education in a flexible manner with respect to FASD or other complex behaviour disorders.

Qualifications:

  • ·         Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Child and Youth Care, or another related field
  • ·         Must be willing to travel to other communities within the region
  • ·         Minimum 2 years working with families, or other related experience
  • ·         Knowledge of FASD and CDBC
  • ·         Able to provide intake and assessment
  • ·         Familiar and comfortable working with Microsoft Office products
  • ·         Must possess a valid BC Driver’s License and a reliable vehicle
