POSITION:  Community Living Worker: Permanent Part-Time.

(This position requires CUPE Union membership and is open to applicants of all genders)

LOCATION: Chestnut House – Delta (Ladner)

CURRENT HOURS/LINES OFFERED:

1st Line: Friday-Monday (7AM-3PM). 32 hours per week.

2nd Line: Friday and Saturdays (Awake Overnights, 11PM-7AM). 16 hours per week.

3rd Line: Sundays (2:30PM-11PM). 8 hours per week.

We are looking for a Community Living Worker to join our Sources Community Living Services team! This individual must be Passionate about working with people, Engaging, and Empathic.

Description of position:

The Community Living Worker supports individuals with autism spectrum disorder and or intellectual disability in the residence, program, workplace, community, and other designated settings. Works mostly in the client’s home, workplace and in the surrounding community.  Shifts may be daytime, evening or overnight.  The Community Living Worker may work independently with clients at times but will also work with other staff.

Job responsibilities:

  • Build meaningful relationships and be an emotional support to service recipients
  • Design and implement programming
  • Assist in meal preparation and diet planning
  • Provide personal care support as needed
  • Document activities and report activities
  • Medication administration
  • Transportation of individuals
  • Support in crisis management
  • Liaise with various stakeholders
  • Maintain a safe working environment
  • Helping to maintain an environmentally clean and welcoming atmosphere
  • Other tasks related to improve service delivery

Organization:

  • Punctual, professional, and a good representative of the organization
  • Thorough and accurate completion of administrative/reporting duties
  • Adherence to policies and procedures, collective agreement provisions, and other regulatory recruitments

Qualifications:

  • 1 year post-secondary education
  • 1 year experience in social service field
  • Good communication abilities
  • Empathy and good emotional Intelligence
  • Ability to physically engage in client support and activities.
  • Good computer skills
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and driver’s abstract

  • First Aid
  • NCI (Crisis Management)
  • Client Specific Training
  • OH&S
  • Other on-going training to ensure development and best practice

Start Date: ASAP

Closing Date: April 29th, 2023.

Salary: $21.63-$25.19.
