Position: Permanent Full Time Behaviour Consultant

Location: Lower Mainland: Tri Cities, Burnaby, New Westminster, Surrey, Delta, Langley, Vancouver

Hours: 35 hours per week

We are looking for a Behaviour Consultant to join our Sources Behavioural Support Services team!

The individual must have exceptional organizational skills, be able to work independently, and have strong interpersonal skills and be dedicated to client service to make a difference in people’s lives.

Description of Position

Reporting to the Manager of Behavioural Support, the Behavior Consultant is a full-time employee of Sources Community Resources.

The Behaviour Consultant will offer a full range of consultation and support services to families of children with neurodevelopmental disabilities, including assessment of behaviour problems, design, and implementation of programs specific to the needs of the individual child/youth, hands on training to parents and support staff and evaluation procedures to determine success of the programs.

General Responsibilities:

  •  Maintains client records.
  • Participates in program evaluation.
  • Ensures that all Society policies and procedures are followed.

Program Specific Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and analysis of behaviour.
  • Design and implementation of strategies specific to the needs of the family.
  • Hands on training for parents and other supporting individuals.
  • Monitor effectiveness of implemented strategies.
  • Modify programs when improvement is not observed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in a related area (e.g., Applied Behavior Analysis or Psychology).
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Behavior Consultant, where training family members/interventionists and programming for persons with developmental disabilities took place.
  • Experience and knowledge in the following areas: Applied Behavior Analysis principles, Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA), analysis and design, planning and implementation of individual Behavior Support Plans.
  • Experience working with individuals with challenging behaviors an asset.
  • Knowledge of Family Centered Positive Behavior Support and the creation of Summary Statements and Competing Pathway Diagrams.
  • Ability to create and implement Safety Plans, and monitor or revise the Safety Plan on an as-needed basis.
  • Experience with providing Parent Training to families or other caregivers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; speaking a second language an asset.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team and demonstrate initiative.
  • Experience working with other social service professionals (Social Workers, School Teachers, Physicians).
  • Valid BC driver’s license and has own vehicle.
  • Be willing to travel frequently to family homes throughout the Lower Mainland.

Start Date: ASAP

Salary:  Starting at 33.50 per hour
