Position: Video Content Creator – Temporary (8 months)

Location:  Morgan Administration Offices, South Surrey

Hours: 35 hours per week

We are looking for a Video Content Creator to join our Sources Communications team! Co-op Marketing Students are welcome to apply, please note this in your application. You are a creative thinker with a passion for storytelling. Sources’ Video Content Creator will assist in brainstorming unique ideas, craft engaging videos, collaborate with different departments for content on multiple online platforms, ensure quality through editing, and stay updated on social media trends.

Description of position

Reporting to the Manager, Philanthropy & Communications, the Video Content Creator is a temporary employee of Sources Community Resources for 8 months.

General Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Communications team to develop unique content that resonate with our audience.
  • Create engaging and informative video content in a storytelling manner.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information and insights for content creation. This can include the Communications team, Executive team, various Sources programs, past or present Board members, and other key stakeholders within the community.
  • Adapt content to live on various platforms, including websites, social media, and eblasts.
  • Edit and proofread content to ensure clarity, grammar, and consistency.
  • Stay up-to-date with social media trends, algorithm changes, new features, and best practices to ensure our content remains relevant and reaches a wide audience.
  • Administrative duties to support the tracking, reporting, and/or management of content for the organization.
  • Administrative support to the Communications department as required.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate study in Marketing, English, Journalism, or relevant field.
  • Proven experience as a Content Creator or similar role is preferred.
  • Creative in storytelling and concept development.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Video production and editing skills.
  • Proficient in all social media platforms, particularly their capabilities and restrictions with the use of videos (ie. YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn)
  • Proficient in Google Suite, Outlook, Constant Contact, Canva and video creation software
  • Proficient in WordPress, Elementor, and social media content creation apps such as Layout and Repost would be preferred but not required.
  • Proficient using a Samsung phone and/or iPhone for content creation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – outgoing, friendly, approachable, and has the ability to make interviewees feel comfortable in front of the camera.
  • Eye for design. Understands basic graphic design principles.
  • Demonstrated understanding of EDI principles.
  • Work or volunteer experience in social causes or other non-profit organizations is a plus.
  • Knowledge of current social media trends and the ability to integrate them effectively into content creation.
  • Time-management skills and well organized.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team player.
  • Criminal Records check through the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General Criminal Records Review Program Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and driver’s abstract.

Start Date: January 15, 2024

Wage: $20.00 / hour
