Police-Based Victim Services – Island

Our Services

Sources Oceanside Resource Centre provides Police-Based Victim Services (PBVS) to the community through the Oceanside RCMP Detachment. Victim services support individuals in the community to lessen the impact of crime and trauma on victims and their families and to assist them in their recovery. This is done by enhancing victim safety and helping to reduce the risk of further victimization, supporting victim’s participation in the criminal justice system and preparing victims acting as witnesses for court proceedings.
PBVS also provides crisis response, emotional support, referral to other community resources, court orientation and support as well as assistance with victim impact statements and crime victim assistance applications. Community referrals are accepted for this program.
Cost: Police-based victim services are provided free of charge.
Referrals: Community referrals are accepted directly from victims as well as MCFD, fire departments, community agencies and other police-based victim services organizations. Referrals can be made directly to the Oceanside RCMP Victim Services office by calling 250-954-2277.
Police-based victim services are funded by the Ministry of Safety and Solicitor General (MSSG).
The Police-Based Victim Services’ specialized supports during COVID-19 are supported by the Government of Canada’s Emergency Community Support Fund and Parksville-Qualicum Community Foundation.
