Our Services
Child Development Services (CDS) is an integrated, multi-disciplinary team that provides developmental services and support to the children and families of Oceanside. CDS provides family-centered, free services to children under five years of age who may be experiencing or are at risk for developmental delays.
The CDS team is composed of trained, experienced professionals with expertise in typical and atypical development. Each team member has their own area of expertise and works in collaboration with one another as well as with families to provide optimal support and outcomes for each child.
Infant Development
Offering home-based outreach services for children from birth to three years. Our infant development consultants serve children who may be at risk for developmental delays. Group activities for parents and children are also provided.
Occupational Therapy
Providing service to children from birth to five years through assessment, treatment and consultation. The occupational therapist helps children develop skills for play activities and daily living.
Physiotherapy
Providing service to children from birth to five years through assessment, treatment and consultation. The physiotherapist provides parents and caregivers with information about movement such as rolling, crawling, sitting, walking, climbing and jumping.
Speech and Language
Serving children birth to five years who may be at risk for speech / language delays with a focus on prevention and identification. Speech and language pathologists assess hearing, speech and language.
Supported Child Development
Promoting inclusive child care for children ages birth to 18 years in community childcare settings. The SCD consultant assists children with special needs to access community childcare settings. The supported child development assistant provides specialized support in the childcare setting when required.
Cost: All child development services are provided free of charge.
Referrals: Referrals to our services are accepted from parents, physicians and other community professionals. Referrals can be made by phone, fax or email.
The child development services team is funded by the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) and is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
