Volunteer Dentist

Since 2010, the Sources Volunteer Dental Clinic has collaborated with local dental care providers to restore smiles to the people in our community.  Our team of dental professionals donate their time and expertise to improve oral health and provide pain relief for those with barriers to consistent dental care.  Our mission is to:

  • To improve the oral health, overall health and wellness of people living in poverty.
  • To assist each person in reducing pain while providing preventative measures for patients to maintain good oral health practices.
  • To increase each person’s sense of self-worth and confidence.

The dental clinic operates at the Peace Arch Hospital and is fully equipped to do basic dentistry: restorations, pain management, extractions, and endo. Dentists work alongside a highly trained and experienced assistant who carries out normal chairside duties.

The licensed volunteer dentist would work with diverse client populations, looking through a lens of poverty and poverty-related issues.

Time Commitment:

Commitment is flexible.  Volunteers can donate their time 1 day a month, or every other month, for 4 hours in length.  The clinic currently operates on Saturdays only.

Benefits to this position:

The need for dental services in our region is growing.  The Sources Volunteer Dental Clinic supports those who face barriers in accessing vital services that can dramatically affect their well-being.  By sharing your expertise with hands-on care and promoting prevention awareness, you will make long-lasting impacts on our community’s oral and overall health and wellbeing.

“There is a huge sense of satisfaction in volunteering. For those of us who have volunteered for many years at the PAH dental clinic this could not be more true….The patients we serve deal with the most unbelievable challenges that most of us cannot even imagine…. and are sincerely appreciative of what we are able to do for them.”  ~ Dr. Warren Ennis
