Helping Hanadi get connected–with a new laptop!
Hanadi is a Syrian refugee who came to British Columbia with her daughter just over a year ago.
Wanting to do her best as a newcomer to Canada, Hanadi started looking for work right away. She became involved with several community agencies, working as an Arabic-English interpreter to assist other refugees.
However, it was still a struggle to find more permanent work and for her daughter to finish her homework, because the laptop they owned was “very bad.” In fact, it was oriented for Arabic, so the keys were all reversed!
Hanadi came to Sources South Surrey/White Rock Employment Services Centre, and met with Colleen, one of our case managers. After learning Hanadi’s story, Colleen searched and found a recycling company in Alberta that refurbished old electronics, and reached out to them. After months of waiting (close to a year!), she was successful in acquiring a new laptop for Hanadi!
On June 8, 2018, we were happy to give Hanadi her new laptop, thanks to the Electronic Recycling Association! We wish you and your family all the best, Hanadi.
