The Empowered for Employment department at SOURCES offers support for you to obtain the skills needed to get you working! We believe that each individual has the capacity to thrive in the workforce and we strive to empower community members to achieve employment and independence and participate in their broader communities, realizing healthier and happier lives. All programs are currently offered virtually.
Skills for Today’s Workplace Program (Starting on January 31)
A FREE 11-week program for individuals who have been impacted by violence and/or abuse as an adult or child. We provide individualized planning and training to explore work interests and talents, build employability skills and develop marketable skills for employment.
Admin & Accounting Program (Starting on February 21)
11-week program for adults 55 years of age and over who aspire to return to the workforce with newfound knowledge and confidence to work in Office Administration. This program, in partnership with Vancouver Community College, offers vocational training in basic Microsoft Office, essential computer applications and bookkeeping and accounting principles.
Skills Work Program (Continuous intake)
Offers individualized assessment, planning and employment skills training to support individuals with disabilities to increase their accessibility to employment opportunities. This program provides an opportunity to explore careers, personal strengths and abilities, build up employability skills and develop a plan to prepare for and achieve a successful transition to employment.
Peering into Employment Program (Continuous intake)
Coordinated housing and employment program designed to address the needs of those who have been most affected by the pandemic, specifically, individuals who are at risk of, or experiencing homelessness. Participants receive access to required personal supports, develop workplace skills, engage with peers and access meaningful work opportunities using their lived experience to connect with and support the needs of their communities.
