Position: FASD Keyworker – Permanent Part-Time

Location: FASD Keyworker Program, South Surrey & White Rock

Hours: 21 hours per week

We are looking for a FASD Keyworker to join our Sources Positive Behavior Support team! This individual must have excellent communication skills and be extremely knowledgeable on resources around FASD.

Description of Position

Reporting to the Manager of Positive Behavior Support Services, the FASD Keyworker is a permanent part-time employee of Sources Community Resources.

The Keyworker will provide coordination of services to family, case conferencing, education, planning, supportive advice, linkage to other community supports, and facilitation of parent-to-parent support mechanisms.  The Keyworker must possess strong knowledge of FASD and other complex behavioral conditions, excellent communication and advocacy skills, ability to work with ministry structures and staff in MCFD, Health, and Child and Youth Mental Health, as well as families and other community agencies.  Able to develop and support a parent-to-parent support group.

General Responsibilities:

  • ·         Maintains client records.
  • ·         Participates in program evaluation.
  • ·         Reports quarterly to MCFD on family statistics.
  • ·         Ensures that all Society policies and procedures are followed.

Program Specific Responsibilities:

  • Empowers parents by providing them with support, resources, and information.
  • Helps families learn about relevant local, regional, and national services, resources, voluntary organization, and information agencies that are available.
  • Assists families with applications for relevant local, regional, or national services, resources, equipment, and financial support that is available.
  • Is the main link between the family and services, and between all the practitioners who are supporting the family.
  • Assists families with advocating for their child.
  • Develops and facilitates parent-to-parent support mechanisms.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in social sciences, or bachelor’s degree with specialized training and extensive experience working with FASD clients; or bachelor’s degree in conjunction with specialized training, with ten or more years working in the field particularly children and youth.
  • Effectively utilize Office suite including Excel, Word, Outlook, and central data systems
  • Effectively communicate professionally, verbally and written in English
  • Standard First Aid and CPR (Training may be accessed through Sources)
  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention Training (Training may be accessed through Sources)
  • Criminal Records check through the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General Criminal Records Review Program
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and driver’s abstract

Start Date: ASAP

Salary: $30.00 per hour
