Position: Floater Residential Care Worker – Temporary Mat. Leave (This position requires HSA membership)

Location: Archway House / Sources – Cloverdale

Hours:   40 hours a week  (Saturday 7am to 3pm and Sunday 2:30 pm to 10:30pm, Wednesday 8am to 4pm with two floaters days scheduled weekly according to the need of the residents and program. These two-day shifts can be either morning, evening or overnights)

We are looking for a Residential Care Worker to join our Sources Archway House team! This individual must be an inspired, innovative, and compassionate team player. Able to provide care and advocacy for 4 adults with developmental disabilities in residential and community settings and must have a class 4 drivers Unrestricted.

Sources is a community-based non-profit organization that has been providing help, encouragement, and hope for individuals and families in White Rock, Surrey, Delta, Langley, and Prince George for 40 years. Sources – Archway House

Sources Community Living – Archway House provides care and advocacy for 4 adults with developmental disabilities in residential and community settings. Our mission is to enable the pursuit of the best quality of life possible for clients. We do this by fostering independence, community integration, and social participation. The Residential Care Worker plays a key part in this development.

Responsibilities:

  • ·         Engaging with the residents in community inclusion and recreation activities.
  • ·         Assisting residents in all aspects of daily living (i.e. personal care, appointments, community outings etc.)
  • ·         Following individual client service plans and participate in the on-going of such plans
  • ·         Following client / petty cash budget; adhere to spending limits and record expenses
  • ·         Developing a supportive rapport with clients and actively seeking out new opportunities for clients that relate directly to their goals and objectives
  • ·         Working constructively as part of a team with all colleagues.
  •           Participate fully in walking, swimming, sports, and a wide variety of recreation and leisure activities.
  •           Completion of tasks as assigned by manager, including routine facility maintenance.
  • ·         Meal preparation and housekeeping duties
  • ·         Must have class 4 drivers Unrestricted

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 6 months experience working with people with developmental disabilities
  • Grade 12 diploma and 2 years post-secondary education, preferably in behavior sciences, social work, or community social service or equivalent
  • All employment requirements (which include CPR, NCI Training, medical clearance, TB screening, , Sources training course, criminal record check, proof of SIN card,
  • immunization form, Class 4 Driver’s License) must be valid and current by agency-set deadlines or your application will not be considered.
  • Must have class 4 drivers Unrestricted
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative and use critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to act decisively in crisis situations
  • Ability to use a word processor (Word for Windows) to produce objective written data and reports
  • Ability to follow a petty cash system and report expenses
  • Participate fully in swimming, walking and a wide variety of recreation and leisure activities
  • Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities /or clients with possible physical aggression, including effective responses to such behavior
  • Familiar with adult rights and responsibilities
  • Able to actively seek out new community/recreation/vocational experiences
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to create and implement visual supports and schedules
  • Ability to implement behavior support strategies
  • Capable and confident using NCI strategies and techniques
  • Comfortable attending and participating in adult planning meetings
  • Familiar with adult rights and responsibilities

Start Date: July 11, 2020

Salary: $20.52 PER HOUR (Grid 10)
