“This is OUR neighbourhood” – Sources Foundation rallies White Rock/South Surrey for Coldest Night of the Year walk
Feb 09, 2026 – White Rock, BC – Sources Foundation (Sources) will be warming up the streets this February 28 at Memorial Park in White Rock with its annual Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) walkathon. The goal is to raise $300,000 for individuals experiencing food insecurity, homelessness and mental health challenges. In line with the theme for this year “This is OUR neighbourhood,” the organization is encouraging residents to walk, fundraise or volunteer to support their own community of White Rock/South Surrey.
“Every dollar raised through CNOY goes directly toward helping our neighbours,” said David MacIntyre, CEO of Sources Foundation. That means food on the table for families, outreach for people living unhoused, and counselling for individuals who are struggling. This walk helps ensure those supports are there when people need them most.”
In the past years, funds raised in CNOY have been used to purchase a van for outreach, keep a roof on individuals at risk of homelessness, support the ever-growing number of clients at our food banks and provide hundreds of hours of free counselling to young persons at our White Rock resource centre.
“It’s a serious cause, but it’s also a welcoming, family-friendly event,” said Marc Burchell, CNOY Ambassador. “People of all ages come together to walk, connect, and show support for our beautiful South Surrey/White Rock community.”
Beginning at 4 PM, the event will be emceed by celebrity fitness trainer Tommy Europe. The evening will open with O Canada performed by local choir Amazing Grace, followed by live music to keep the crowd energized and engaged throughout the event. Participants and guests will also be enjoying treats from HomeLife Benchmark Realty, free mini donuts from Lil’ Ooties, soup by Sheila’s Catering, hot dogs, face painting by Pebble Lane Learning, and much more.
Registration is free and open to individuals, families, and teams at cnoy.org/whiterocksouthsurrey. Last year, the top fundraising team White Rock Baptist Church raised over $35,000 and top fundraiser Srinivasan Rajagopal brought in over $13,000.
SOURCES Foundation gratefully acknowledges Elkay Development Ltd. and Homelife Benchmark Realty for their continued generosity as Supporting Sponsors.
