Our Food Bank’ s new refrigeration truck is now in service—with a shiny wrap on it, too! Thank you to all the caring individuals and businesses who stepped up for us in our time of need.

Thieves broke onto our White Rock/South Surrey Food Bank property last week and cut the catalytic converter off our brand new refrigeration truck, making it much more challenging and stressful to serve hundreds of community members in need at our busiest time of the year.

Fifty people, including SOURCES staff, board members, local politicians and community members, participated in a KAIROS Blanket Exercise (KBE) at Kwomais Lodge on November 30, 2018. We acknowledge that the KBE took place on the ancestral and unceded territory of the Semiahmoo First Nation and Coast Salish peoples.

Sources Cornerstone Care will observe Children’ s Grief Awareness Day on November 15, along with other Langley businesses, by lighting a blue light bulb in honour of the grieving children and teens in our community.

SOURCES is pleased to offer an ongoing weekly group to the community: Mindful Pause. Attendees will be led through a variety of guided meditations and mindfulness practices to promote serenity and stress resilience.

SOURCES is running a Seniors ID Clinic on October 30, 2018 from 1: 00 to 4: 00 p. m. at its Newton Resource Centre (#102 – 13771 72A Ave. Surrey). The ID Clinic is available for anyone who is low-income and 55+ years old.

From October 7 to 13, cities across the Lower Mainland honoured Homelessness Action Week (HAW). As part of the effort to bring awareness and understanding to the issue of homelessness, Sources Newton Resource Centre held its 13th Annual Homelessness Awareness March. To even further enhance civic engagement, SOURCES featured a new activity: the “House of Cans” competition.
