This position delivers a brief, multi-component intervention designed to prevent child out-of-home placement, assist families in reunification following out-of-home placement, and reduce the risk for child maltreatment by assisting families to change behaviours and increase their skills. The FSW also works with parents and children and the local school district to support success and positive engagement in the school setting. Behaviour management strategies are developed to assist children and youth to experience positive educational outcomes. Working collaboratively with families, the FSW assesses needs, develops and implements strategies that will facilitate positive change for families. Services are intensive and primarily home-based, with a focus on family strengths and involving families in case planning. This position may involve evening and weekend hours.
